chad smith would kick both their asses if he wanted too. But he wouldnt hurt innocent people cuz hes cool like that.

Obviously a thread started by guitar players. ;) There are so many drummers better than both of them.

i think they were just pointing out the members of the foo fighters...
dave grohl as u all know used to drum, and still does, but not for the ffighters...
so person just wanted to know if the foo's drummer was better than grohl, their guitarist and singer

Sorry but Dave belongs up front with a guitar..

Daves better than Kurt was

There's so much more to Grohl's drumming than just Nirvana. And the frontman note, I disagree - Dave Grohl is my utter idol, but I still think he has more stage presence when he's not fronting.

On the Grohl/Hawkins point, it's difficult but I voted for Grohl 'coz he's had more experience to hone his skills from.

Chad Smith is awesome, but nothing like either drummer being discussed, and if we're talking about who could beat who in a drum-off, you've gotta look at some metal drummers for their pure shredding ability!

I used to think Dave Grohl was pretty boring and average, until he played on that Queens of the stone age album. Amazing. The Foo Fighters guy I don't really have an opinion on. Everything I've heard him play sounds pretty boring...

It's hard to tell how much of this is the actual drum sound on the recordings, 'cause I've never heard better sounding drums than the QOTSA record, and I can't stand the kind of sound that Foo Fighters seem to like.

Taylor and Dave are the same person. Dave puts on his blonde wig and he turns into Taylor.

better as a musician musician, but far inferior as a songwriter. Kurt was a really gifted songwriter, but not so much in the musicianship (two different skill sets)

I couldn't disagree with that assumption. . . .I love holding conversations with people from years ago. it feels kind of like the twilight zone.

Even though this thread is ages old, I had to go with Grohl. I used to know him back in the old D.C. punk scene days. He kicked ass playing with Scream.

I love the way Grohl builds songs and creates parts. I love the way taylor plays.

Between these two who is better on the skins?

Ok Dave is more of a drummer for a band where as Taylor is more of a session drummer. Id say Dave is better at writing beats, and Taylor is more consisant, although they are both amazingly talented drummers.

I wish people would stop comparing other drummers. Music is an art form, not a sport. If you are to do a thread like this, you should rephrase the question. How about... who's drumming do you enjoy more? "Better" is such a wrong term to use when talking about music because music is about personal taste.

Well put.

I will say Dave, he earns more points because he is so much more than a drummer. Hell look at Probot that is all Dave except for the vocals, as well every song sounds like it was written by the vocalists respective bands. Then there is Songs fo the Deaf, sorry if an ex-member of Kyuss asks you to play on thier album you shut your mouth, and do it. As well when it comes to heavy hitters Dave is one of the best. He comes down on a drum set like Thor's dick, once he walks away she will never be the same. Taylor is great as well, but Dave has him beat just because of sheer amount of stuff he has done. Also Dave kinda has that mad scientist thing going on a little bit.

Over all they both rock. So, whats it really matter?
