Unfinished. I have a hard time judging my own stuff I think. Just want some opinions.

The lead was mostly improvised with obvious parts from the original and also from the original original (yellow ledbetter).

Anyway, tell me what you think.
 
i don't know the original.

mix -
* good spread on the layout...
* personally, I think the acoustic on the panned at 2 O'clock is a tad hot. might let the lead stand out more
* same on the electric rhythm on 11 O'Clock
* drums sound good. straight up the middle with just a little spread. I would like more snare and kick. deeper kick if possible.
* bass - I actually like the bass here...almost non-existent. doesn't stand out or step on anything.

tracking -

* guitars sound great. I love the sound of the acoustic. Good tone on the lead and rhythm as well!
* Drums are tracked pretty good here sir/ma'am/what?

Yeah, I had a hard time getting the levels just right on the rhythm tracks. I may need to try a little compression to even them out some so it's easier to get the levels right.

Both electric guitars (rhythm on the left) and lead were recorded direct using free amp simulator plugins, so I'm pretty pleased with the tone for what it is.

I think the lead playing could use some work but it was kind of done quickly. I hope to post a finished version soon when I get the time.
 
Sounds pretty dang good!

My main nit is the heavy verb on the drums make them sound like the're in a spare room down the hall.

Yeah, I need to turn down the "room mic" in EZDrummer. :D I also have a kinda subtle reverb on the master buss which when added to the drums is probably too much.

Yes the drums might need to be brought frward a bit, but the level is good. I like the overall tones and mix you've done with this - nice and beefy. Good playing - mellow and dark......Cool :cool:
