The only sticks I use are Vater's Piccolo Sugar Maple. The maple makes them light enough for real delicate and/or fast playing. Yet they are relatively thick so you can use the thick shoulder for louder stuff and it won't slip out of your hands like a really thin 7A or something. Plus, if you do any sort of bouncing on cymbals you need a round tip, not teardrop like most sticks. Also, the sugar maple lasts longer than the lighter woods that some other companies use (like Vic Firth's rock maple, which break really quickly). Vater Piccolo, Perfect stick.
