Which mics and why!

I'm waaay to tired to decide what my band needs to bring to our "studio" and record some things.

We'll be working with a ProTools setup, Digi002, 6 ch. Mackie Mixer and or Berri 12ch. mixer.

I know, to an extent, what mics go where, but as I stated, I'm too tired to think about it. Here are the mics we have availible.

SM57
SM58
x2 MXL 990 w/cap mods
x2 MXL 991 w/cap mods
x2 MXL 993
KSM27 LDC
SM81
Beta52
4-6 Cheapo Dynamic Mics

I know the Beta52 will be used on the kick. We've also just built a "subkick" from a 10" speaker to add more to the bass. 57 on snare, and the two 991's XYed for OHs. I'm thinking about using the KSM27 for a room ambience mic.....bah I don't know past that. There are some useable mics here, but I just can't process.

Oh, my kit has 3 toms, kick, snare, hats, 2 crashes, ride, and a splash.

you seem to be on the right track. if youre just recording drums, you seem to have the right idea with those mics. try it! experiment! post clips. find out for yourself.

The only reason I'm asking this is because I don't have the time to play around. I need to get a good, usable sounds fairly quickly.

I just want to know....out of these availible mics, which should I put where, besides the basics!

if it was me i'd do everything you said and then throw the 990's on 2 toms and the 58 on a tom

Ha, that's what I was planning on. Just wanted to know if there's some better applications for the mics.
