If only for a moment.....
I rather like Newbies because every so often I can actually help someone, recording techniques, mixing techniques and mastering because I can learn things and engage in debate, I used to like the analog only forum but I kind of feel like I was chased out of there because the D word isn't blasphemy to me, I like the songwriters forum because once in a while you get some really meaty topics in there. I want to like the singing forum but it's become far too single subject focused {what do you think of my voice}. I like the guitar and drum forums and sometimes Prime time {kind of the cave without the drunks !} and on occasion, the Tascam forum and homebrew/DIY because a} I still have a Tascam 8 track and b} I still believe in the old style home made aspect of home recording. The feedback section is great when there's arguments.
I do like to witness a good argument once in a while.

I actually go down the list and visit pretty uch every forum, with a few exceptions. I don't go into the CUBASE forum, for example, because I don't use CUBASE, but I will visit everything from the "Newbies" to the TASCAM forum.

I go less and less into the MP3 Clinic because it's become a haven for fly-by-night "look at me" types that are just looking for hits on their Youtube or Rverbnation page. It's a joke.

I mainly go to newbies, recording, mixing and studio building with some prime time and cave thrown in.
Not so much the cave anymore....too much politics n stuff. Boring.
I'll also drop in on guitars and drums just to see what's happening or any new builds.
Hard to believe how many years I been here.
I feel old.

:D

Start at the top and work my way down most times....though I don't hit some of the app-specific forums because I don't use them.

There's a few I don't visit often...but if an interesting thread is started, all the forums are game....all the way down into the bowels of the Cave, though like what RAMI said about the MP3 Clinic, the Cave has become the same in many ways...it's Groundhog Day, every day, with the same few people making the same points in every thread that is started, and it's really 95% politics with everything. I just go there for a few laughs now and then...and the funniest is how many get SO serious in the Cave. :D

Mics, DIY, Newbies and Protools are the main ones.

In mics, newbies and Protools I'm usually scouting for questions to answer to help someone out.
DIY is more of a hobby interest; Trying to learn something more than help out.

I wish I could say I spent more time in the mixing clinic, but I do forget about it sometimes.
Late new years resolution.......

Yeah, I used to be a permanent animal in the Cave. I think I've walked in there maybe twice in the last 2 years. It's complete stupidity. The biggest collection of idiots who think they've got it all figured out. I would only go back in there if I was conducting a social experiment on how easy it is to brain-wash people through peer pressure. :D

I use the New Post search all the time and go where it takes me. I'll post in threads where I think I can help or if I want to make a funny comment (funny to me anyways...)

Good thread Grimm and I actually read most of your post this time. :D

im a new posts button presser to,then go for whatever looks interesting :)

Morning coffee in the cave till my morning constitution hits me - then up through the forums from there.

Oh wait - Inevitably there are one or two PMs to take care of first off every day.

Then there are the HIDDEN FORUMS. I drop in every so often.

They say by invitation only - They musta been here before the french took over.

They used to be hidden until the site did an update to vBulletin a coupla years ago. Yeah, they are holdovers from the Fiedler era. :(

What do you mean by usta be? I still don't see them. I can only get there because I have them booked marked.

I hang out in analog the most and DIY. In DIY, I learn stuff and pass on stuff I learn from groupdiy. I also try to do half way decent build threads on stuff that I've built or modded. I'm just no good at doing the photo essay thing though. Newbies too, occasionally I actually know something useful. Microphones, because the current obsession is modifying or replacing the electronics. (Good place to start DIY actually...)

Tascam and Fostex occasionally, most of my gear has one of those labels... Analog also, not just because of recording. but because of the ARP gear I have.

Well you have my invitation to come back! Not sure what thread it was, but I don't think there are too many zealots who are totally anti digital. (The anti analog zealots do get a lot of heat though....)

I just hit the new posts button - first I look for the green tick for updates to threads I've posted in, then I trawl through looking for anything interesting, doeesn't matter where they are, but I generally look at stuff in the newbies, recording, mixing, studio building, mix clinic (when I've time to listen), guitars, cubase and reaper sections. I go in the Cave a bit and look at the arguments in there, I throw in the odd comment here and there, but can't be bothered really getting involved.

I reckon I'm the funniest guy here, but unfortunately no-one else does...
Oh no, that honour goes to my friend and yours, Wheelie. He's "barking at the moon, sitting in a vat of baked beans, blessing little babies, Ziggy Stardust's arm around Mick Ronson, computer crash at 3am, scuba diving with shortsighted dolphins and stubbing your toe in the dark on the way to the loo in an unfamiliar haunt" funny.
No one can compete with that. That's why we don't answer the questions.........
