Sorry to hijack yet another thread, but I've been trying to post for days now, and for some reason it won't let me (I'm sure one of the comedians here have some theories), and this is actually the topic I wanted. My original attempted post follows:
How would you characterize the GT55?
I did a search and the results were inconclusive. One person seemed to like it, but it was their only 'good' mic. One post described it as good for bass-heavy singers and bass-heavy instruments. Another poster said it was 'dark' with a rolled off top end, which would be good for shrill or nasally voices, just the opposite of what the first person said.
Does anyone have, or have they used, the GT55 and been able to compare it to any other reasonably decent mic, not just 'I like it, but it's my first condenser', or 'my only other mic is a mic that came with my pc', etc.
Of course the reason I'm asking is the CG bundle with d770's for $299. I was going to pay $199 for the 770's anyway, so I thought, hey another mic for a hundred bucks wouldn't be bad if it had a useful purpose. If it's no better than an SP B-1,
a C2000, a 3035, etc, then I might as well save my money to go towards a decent mic later. I can't really do any recording at the moment, so it's not like I'm dyin' for a new mic right now. I just thought if it would be useful later, might as well.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
Again, apologies for the hijacking.
