Hi everyone, I am new here and will be glad if you help me. I am a pianist, few months ago bought a Roland digital piano HP305 and started to write music in different genres. I also have Roland digital mixer VS880 EX, which is very new for me, I'm just learning how to use it. For now I write and record my music in the piano, which is nice, but I want to start mixing them and make them sound professional. Is there anything else I should do?

Thanks :)

Welcome, Mira! :)

What kind of recorder are you running the mixer into?

Hi Mira, Welcome to the forums!

The VS880 EX is a pretty robust little machine, although somewhat archaic by today's standards... It will produce some very professional sounding results for you.
As you experiment and learn more, you may find that mixing and producing your songs on a computer is more to your liking... The 880 EX does offer digital outputs to assist, but that can be time consuming. Again tho, a computer is not necessary, the 880 EX is very capable.

There's a forum for Roland VS users that is pretty helpful: VS Planet (if you're not a member already) ;) One of the members there wrote up a nice little FAQ for the 880 EX that can help you along as you're learning the ins/outs... WAAAY more than you will probably get out of the manuals. You can find that here: Hook's 880EX FAQ

For recording tips and assistance in general, you'll find a lot of help here at HR... Remember, there are no dumb questions. :)

Welcome aboard!

Hi again, I finally finished my first work and have it on Youtube. If you would like to check it: Mira Shvangiradze-Tango. I really would appreciate your opinions. :)

p.s. I was trying to put link but site didn't let me.
thanks

Hi again, I use Roland Digital piano HP305 and as I already mentioned VS 880EX. I would like to use computer programs for recording and mixing, What programs would you recommend? Will is be easy to use computer programs than VS 880EX? (this one seams difficult for me to learn).

Please help. :)

Hey, welcome to the forum.

Do you have a mike?

The main components of a recording studio are mixer, recorder and mikes..

I have only Roland Digital piano HP305 and VS 880EX recorder/mixer. I don't know what's mike. :(

I am interested in recording/mixing my music by computer, but I don't know which program to use. I'd like to have something like Imogen Heap uses, or Röyksopp.
