My wife is Welsh. Wales doesn't have seasons....just "cold and wet" and "slightly less cold but still wet".

However, it also has "Pete's Eats" in Llanberis...the best cheap cafe in the world.

Is Llanberis close to Llanbedr ?

Not too far--it's up by Snowdon (in fact the Snowdon Mountain Railway leaves from there).

i have two friends from wales (one from Cardiff and one from someone on the west coast) and they both make the joke about not realising they didn't always have to wear rain coats until they left Wales. We went on holiday there for 4 days a couple of years back; it was "less rainy" on only one day and like the true brits we are we judged that as being good beach weather :D

Then you haven't been to Manchester New Hampshire to experience *The Red Arrow* dinner!

No, but I've flown from Brisbane to the UK (via Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Mumbai, Istanbul and London) to have lunch at PETE'S EATS! Their large breakfast and multiple pint mugs of tea/coffee have seen me up many a Snowdonia climb!

I guess it's going to take a lot of travelling to resolve this one! Could be fun!

The flight from Hong Kong to the Philippines was the scariest flight I've ever taken - thank you very much.
But it was the Hamburger that I had in the airport in the Philippines that was the scariest of all! Don't know what kind of meat that was.

Against all the odds, I actually LIKED the Philippines and Manila in particular. Total chaos but a vibrant sense of life that is rare in this world (and our office there was a suite in a hotel--that had a string quartet playing in lobby!).

However, the drive to Subic Bay was, er, interesting as we crossed mile after mile of the ash from Mount Pinatubo.

Me too! I loved Manila.Wish I could have stayed there forever. Was lodged at the Biggest Hotel at the time as a guest of President Marcos in 1983.
It was just that Dang Plane ride. Worst I ever had. Literally sideways to the horizon most of the time in a violent storm.

The UK Ireland Border, I can see Northern Ireland through my sitting room window :)

Rock throwing distance!

There still two miles of water between me and the mourne mountains :P

But I get them in my own way, I drop my chewing gum on the street when I'm there instead of putting it in bins ;)

Raymond, Maine, U.S.
A town of about 3000 people 20 miles inland from Portland, the largest city in the state.

Home of the Landlocked Salmon (that's what it says on the sign entering town) and heart of the Lakes Region of Southern Maine. A really nice, but modest little town that is packed with tourists all summer, but pretty dismal the other 9 months (unless you like skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, showshoeing or any of that other crap).

The kind of town where you can naively think you're one of the only people out there doing homerecording until you go online and find a site like this and realize you are but one among many.

So it's been you all along!!!!!!!!!
I'll be heading to the Mournes in a few weeks. My bro's decided to to the full Mourne Wall walk! 26 miles I think.
