Hey y'all,
I haven't been around much here, as life has been pretty full lately. Short story:
My sister and I thought we were finally going to be moving our parents up from GA to be closer to one of us (she's in SD, and I'm in WI). Dad didn't want to move (he was 82), but mom has Alzheimer's, and it got to a point where he wasn't able to keep up by himself. Well, when I went down there to help start getting the house ready, Dad started complaining about pain in his stomach. Turned out to be pancreatic cancer. So, we moved them up to an apartment near me (south of Milwaukee), and I was their primary caregiver for over 6 months, all while still working full time. Dad passed away at the end of June, and mom is now in memory care (5 minutes from my house).
My wife told me I needed a solo vacation to just be a "human being" instead of a "human doing." So I booked a cabin in the WI country, took some recording equipment, and wrote and recorded this. I just had my Tascam DP-24, so it was a bit more limited than with a full DAW, but it was fine for my purposes.
I think I'll get some friends to add some percussion and bass, but this is where it's at for now. Thanks for reading this and for any input.
