A friend of mine has one, he got it when he found out that George Harrison was a big fan of it and he's an enormous fan of George Harrison. I believe his is the "Fluke Uke" & it has the plastic fretboard-that I didn't care for~

I definitely prefer my mandolin as far as playability and being able to easily play fiddle tunes, as the string tuning is the same as a fiddle.

I don't have one, but that's a really cool song.

i have one that i have played since the age of three years old.

my boss had gotten in a pile of new ukes a few weeks back and so i got to mess with them first... one them is painted up like Gretsch and so i had to play

ONE FOR THE MONEY!
TWO FOR THE SHOW!
THREE TO GET READY!
NOW GO CAT GO!

Remember when you were five and you strung rubber bands around an empty tissue box and ran around the house making those annoying high pitched rubber band twangs until your mom finally snaped and threw away your first guitar? Shut up yes you did! Anyway that's what ukeleles always make me think of.

you've nailed it there & I admit I played with elastic & a borad with pins & anything else you could stretch a band from

heck they are good fun I was blasting along with the radio in the car on the way home

apparently senor Harrison used to carry 2 around in case somebody wanted a jam

I've got an old Martin uke. It needs new tuning machnes. Keep telling myselfI need to get it fixed it. Uke's rock!

I have a copy of Harrison's last project. He heavily favors the uke and slide guitar on it.

a friend of mine takes his Uke with him whereever he goes.

he's learning 'classical gas' on it.

:)

I got a uke. Bought it on my honeymoon in, of course, Hawaii. Probably paid twice what it's worth, but it was the only "souvenier" I could think of worth dropping any money on. It's real cheap, but still fun as hell to play. I have this book which has some pretty cool songs in it, including a real cool version of the beatles "something." "daydream believer" is another cool one..."mellow yellow"...Actually a bunch of cool songs. some not so cool though too.

I'd actually be interested in picking up another book if someone has a suggestion.

Who plays with a felt pick? I bought one but find it too clicky and harsh. I tend to just strum with moderately limp fingertips.

I learned to play ukulele when I was 8 years old. I'm sure I annoyed the hell out of everyone around with the same four Stephen Foster songs over and over.

It made learning guitar chords easier, because the chords are fingered the same (minus the bottom two strings).

well I got up today & started learning my "brother makes the noises for the talkies" from the bonzo dog doo da band & I have to say I can't help but laugh when I play it, especially when you start cutting blues licks out on it

A MARTIN UKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! holy moly you're a jammy sod, where d'ya live I want to rob you :D :D

I've got a reeeeeally old Washburn Uke my grandpap gave me before he died. Anyone know how I can find out if it's worth anything? It's got a serial #.

You're right I did do that! LOL That's pretty funny now that I remember it....

Actually, we had a uke at my house when I was a kid. In the infinite wisdom of a 12 year old, I decided the thing would rock if I replaced the nylon strings with some steel strings (my neighbor was just getting into guitar and gave me some of his old strings or something). Anyway, as I tried to tune up - probably by ear only - things started cracking and popping, and splitting and shattering. I didn't touch a uke again for another 17 years.
