What's YOUR guitar rig like?

  • Thread starter Thread starter 5150 Musician
  • Start date Start date
2002 Fender Strat; 1968 Gibson Les Paul; 1966 Fender Mustang; 1990 Fender Precision Bass; 2003 Carlo Robelli Classic

For performance: a 60w 1 12" Sam Ash amp. Mostly direct from guitar but occasionally, if effects are needed I have a floor box with Roland Boss compressor, chorus, digital delay, flanger, and super distortion; or a Behringer DSP something or other effects unit. If I need volume, the house can mic my amp. :-)

For recording: I usually go direct through my omnistudio pres and add effects via SONAR.

So most time I just use the sound of the guitar and the amp. Eventually when I get money (or I see a 50% off sale) I want a Fender Twin Reverb.

New Guitar!!!!

I just bought a used Gibson SG Standard, and for now I still have my Noodles signature, and I might get a new amp soon, but I have to sell the noodles. This will be hard to have my name IBanezrocks if I don't have one....

epiphone les paul or strat copy --> fender tuner --> ts-7 overdrive or boss turbo overdrive --> crate vc6212 amp (loop: ibanez digital delay>ibanez phaser>ibanez bass chorus)--> fender 4x12.

mine

home made strat through my Line 6 Spider II 1x12

for acoustic (my main thing)
Guild D25 with fishman rare earth pickup goes into house
Avante Baritone guitar (acoustic) with Shadow pickup and EQ.
most of the time runs through a DI
unplugged i use my Gretsch acoustic and just play guitar for people
my Violin runs into an AT4040 and i use that for vocals a bit as well when i play it or otherwise i would just use a SM58.

sometimes when i want a nice simple tube sound i use a really old reel to reel tape machine and run the line outs into my mixer and then into computer or once the house PA.

i do use funky picks for everything now but thats another post :D

I wish...eh?

Looks like the amp room at Gil Southworth's store in Bethesda!
Except he has a whole bunch of tweed, brown, white and blackface Fenders, too.

My rig is a combination of:
Old Strat, Old 345, Blackface Vibrolux, Blackface Pro, Mesa Mk IV.

. . . and an 18 foot cable.

i use line6 head's to avoid lots of other stuff. right now my setup is my brian moore custom into a line 6 II head. a 4x12 with vintage 30's & a 2x15. the only things in my rack i use anymore are my sonic maximizer & wireless. i stopped with further eqing & compresing.

Well I've been fortunate enough to gather some pretty cool gear over the past 25 years that I've been playing........I've kept some, and sold a bunch. Here's gerneral breakdown of the rigs I'm using now.

1.) Carvin Quad X (4- channel Tube Pre-Amp) , Carvin T100 Tube amp, Alesis Quadraverb, and Carvin 4x12 cab. - This has been my main rig for about 10 years.

2.) Carvin Quad X, Boogie 50/50 power amp, Ear Candy Custom Buzz Bomb w/ eminence spkrs.

3.) Mesa Boogie Dual Recifier (older 2 channel version), Marshall 1960 TV 4X12

Pedal board:

Most of the Boss pedals have been modded by Robert Keeley or Analog man....including my Dunlop Cry Baby (Not pictured.)

Guitars:

1. Jackson Soloist - Custom made out of CA. for me back in 94.

2. Kramer Striker 300 St. - All custom now with Duncan pups.

3. Agile 3000 LP Copy - Stock.....but wonderfull

4. 1964 Gibson SG Standard - Worth a mint! :D

5. Washburn EA 26 acoustic - Craig Chiquito (SP?) Signiture model (Fishman preamp

6. Fender Strat - Blond w/ maple neck

7. Fender Jazz Bass - Geddi Lee sig. model ---> VERY COOL  (I've got a couple of bass amps and cabs as well (Hartke 3500 head...blah, blah....)

Well that's about it...:)

mine actually isn't a gold top. it's inverness green. it also doesn't have a 50's neck on it. it has a "players profile neck" which is a 13th of an inch(or maybe it was a 16th, i can't remember now) bigger than a 60's neck. sometimes i think i can feel the difference between the 60's necks and mine, but i'm not sure i really can. anyway. my r7 isn't exactly historically accurate. but I do love gold tops also.in fact, I want a normal r7 goldtop, but the necks are just too huge for me. a 59 neck is about as big as I can go.
