ballroot, why don't you shut the hell up and go away. You obviously have nothing worth a damn to contribute here so why waste your time?
farewellending, I believe you've captured the type of sound that I think you're going for pretty well here. I agree with the others who say that it would be easier to listen for problems with a higher quality mp3 or whatever, but from what I can here, this is comparable to something I recall hearing from similar bands (blink-182, etc.) However, I do have to tell you, this is not a type of music that I can listen to for a long time - even though the playing is good and all. I think the reason is that to me, everything in this type of music sounds either overly compressed, or perhaps it's that the instruments all seem to constantly compete with each other to be heard. I much prefer to hear something with some dynamics, and music where the instruments each have there own "place", i.e: when the singer is performing the accompanying instruments kind of hold back a bit, and at another point the rythm guitars may hold back to let the bass or drums provide a little accent. This type of music seems to feature a constant barrage of steady rythm guitars which take away from the expressiveness of the vocals and other instruments. However, this seems to be a popular style, and what I've said is just my own opinion - I hear my 14 year old daughter listening to this style quite often and if it's what you're going for I think you've probably nailed it. However, you asked what is wrong with the mix, so obviously there is something you don't like. If you want to try something new, I suggest work on getting more dynamics out of your music, and try to accentuate the vocals and various instruments during key passages. At the very least, try to carve space in the mix for each individual instrument, so that they stand out more from each other, rather than sounding like an onslaught of sound.
