yea, from what I've ehard, Sonor is really good (currently saving up for a Sonor Force 3005)

I was looking at a set of them today... Man, those things are sweet looking; the finish was called "Autumn" something.... almost a kind of Bozzio-ish finish.

I just wish that Sonor would go ahead and use the same Spurs that they use on their top of the line kits.

as far as i remember the Pearl heads were "pearl"
don't know which type but tomorrow i see the guy and i'll ask,

his kick pedal was a killer, tama cobra,
with those little round mallets, like the cork of a bottle of wine,
but in the "normal mallet material", not cork, only that kinda size

don't know how deep it was, but he had more blankets in his kick than i do,

even my dad told me he liked the kick sound, he was working in the backyard while we recorded

OOOOMP and a click too !

my kickdrum disapoints me, but i've got this extra...."muffler ring" (don't know how u call that) laying around, gonna put that in,

and i totally suck at tuning drumheads...
gonna see what kinda Ebony Remo's i got on the toms...
think its just ebony, with nothing else written on it...

I don't know what most other guys like on their kicks, but I HATE single-ply heads on the batter side of the kick. It just never gives me the kind of sound I'm after, so I use Pinstripes.

Your best bet, is to take the drumset apart, and really learn how to tune it one drum at a time. Once you do, you'll be able to get some killer sounds quickly. I learned to tune because when I was in symphonic band, my instructor impressed upon us the concept of the drumset as a "one man percussion pit", and got us to think of the toms as tympani - and that made all the difference in the world - of course, the drawback, was I spent hours upon hours learning how to tune the toms so that they would actually SOUND like Tympani drums. (You tune the bottom head tighter than the top) and the drum will have a lot of punch to it; but most of the guys I know tune the top head tighter than the bottom, and I just never really liked tht sound.

I have those old B8 Hi-Hats and they are very loud in all my mixes too. Besides the great modifications in playing comments listed here maybe a thinner Hat because those B8's are really thick.
