Hello all,
Does anyone know what some of the best schools for recording are in the US? As of right now I'm seriously considering going to the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in Tempe, AZ. It seems to be a VERY good school... Is it? Its important to me that I make the right choice... Is anybody here knowledgeable about this subject or know of anybody who is?

Thanks,
Ryan

Full Sail in Orlando, Fl its alot of money.
Ball State University in Muncie,In has an excellent studio facility & program.
I think Chicago has a few music schools that have recording facility.
Just keep doing research on the net, or you could go to the local library in your area & see if the could help you out with more resources.
Get more info on that school in Templ, Az you never know that might the right one for you, if not keep looking or call up some local recording studios & see if they can help you out.
I hope this helps out.

Go somewhere where there is a major industry for this kind of thing like Nashville, NYC, or LA. Most schools will help you get an internship and that is how all great engineers start out.

Seems, most who go to recording schools end up selling guitar stings at music stores.... No, seriously, One of the biggers stores in Toronto, is full of salesclerk who hold recording certificates... Although, they are the first ones I ask for when getting info on equipment, cause they are knowledgable... What a waste of money and education.......I bet Mutt Lange and Bob Rock.. etc.. never went to school, they just climbed the ladder of knowledge through trial and error..... If you go, break the mold, and use the education...

Where I went...

I went to the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale back in 1991 to a 2 year program...Don't waste your money. I should have gone to Full Sail. It looks like a better program there. Needless to say one of my teachers recorded some of the Eagles albums and my live production teacher travelled around with Judas Priest! It was kind of like rock and roll high school. I had a blast, but as far as the schooling, I don't think it is worth the amount I paid for it. I did get an internship outside the school and helped work on Yngwie Malmstein's album Seventh Sign. It was a good experience, and Jeff Glixman was producing. (He produced most of Kansas's albums). I am still kicking myself in the ass for not going to Full Sail but, oh well.
