I'm trying to figure out where I am in the whole music spectrum.

My music seems to be somewhere between alternative country and pop rock.

I'm trying to write songs that are close to bands and artists like Bob Seger, Steve miller, John Cougar, Shania Twain, Eagles, Beatles, diamond RIO.......ect..... If you mix those what do you have? hmmmmm. s#!t Not sure.

I'm not sure what I'm saying here. It is possible to be alternative country and have sort of a match box 20 sound.

Just trying to find my niche. Any suggestions?

BTW, I can listen to anything from Mozart to Rany Travis to AC/DC. I like it all.

Is it possible to create your own Genre? I'm just not finding a fit with the music I want to write.

Here's some of the ideas that I have for a new sound:

1. Blues Guitar sound
2. Alternative country to pop rock.
3. Meaningful lyrics

Who am I damn't?

Maybe I should take off for a few years and find myself.

Who are you?

I live just outside Albany near Sasser (between Albany and Dawson).

Cool.

Yeah. I'm Jerry Padgett.

What kind of music do you play? Do you play guitar or keyboards?

I go to Albany all the time.

Well I use to until the crime got a little worse. Now I spend a lot of time in Valdosta instead.

I work at the Target DC in Tifton.

Nice seeing someone from around here.

Later man.

Actually it's my 18 year old son Ryan with the musical talent. He's a singer (country, southern rock). Plays electric/acoustic guitar - gettin better all the time and plays around with banjo.

Tried several times to get a band going but it's hard to do around here. Older guys only want to do cover songs, younger ones aren't dependable and he wants to develop new material. He works the clubs around here most weekends. His website is down for about a month while I overhaul it. Learning some new software I want to try on it.

I get to play with the gadgets. Not many but it's a start. 700MHz PIII with Yamaha DSP Factory and AX44 breakout box. Still learning how to use it with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0. Also Tascam 424 MK II, Behringer Compressor/Limiter, Behringer Patchbay, Behringer Effects Unit, CAD E100 mic and other mics. Got some PA stuff too.

I work at the Marine Base in Albany as an Electronics Tech. Optics, Lasers, etc.
