I'm thinking about adding a decsent reel to reel to the
studio and need some advice about what to look for. I'd
like at least an 8 track but would prefer to have 16. If
the sonic advantages of 1" over 1/2" are significant enough
I'd like to go that route. And I'd like to stay under $2500. Also is dolby sr something that is only found on the
big money 2" decks. Thanks, Mike

If you go 8-track check out the Tascam TSR-8. Used one for four years without a problem, solid units. Otari made some great machines as well, I've seen both on E-Bay at various prices. I'd try and find one out of the newspaper though, you really have to see/examine before you buy.

This almost makes me want to bid on it...

A few Tascam units on there, no TSR-8's that I could see.

thanks for the help here. I get a little skweemish about
this kind of purchase on e-bay. Maybe I'll check some of
the dealers. Probobly pay a premium but I'd like to be able to return it if is wasnt good.

TASCAM is fine but if you want the closest thing you can get to pro sound consider otari.

By the way, I have had great luck on ebay and used gear sites alike.

GOOD LUCK
