Hello everyone. I was wondering what comp. program will help me out the best. I am Hip-Hop Producer and DJ. Basically I am Looking for a computer editing/recording program. That will help me edit tracks from my Roland VS-880.

My Studio Set-Up Is as follows:

Roland VS-880 8 Track Recorder
Behringer 16 track Mixer
Alesis Midiverb Effects unit
Alesis EQ
Roland XP-80 Synth
Akai MPC2000
Zoom Sampleplayer (Just a toy really)
Alesis R-10 Amp
Tannoy Studio monitors
2 Technic sl1210 Turntables
2 Vestex DJ Mixer
Ortofon Needles, Stanton Needles
Harmon Kardon Cd Burner
Denon Tape Deck
Denon Cd Player
and about 5000 Records

Basically I have a basic Set-up. I want to incorporate my comp. into my studio use. What program will be good for me? Thanks

If you're a hip-hop producer and D.J., I would say ACID would be a great introduction to the world of computers.

If you ever work with loops, samples, and electronic drums, ACID will get you hooked. From there, you can start experimenting with others.

Acid is a good choice. I would also recommend you check out Fruity Loops - very cool program with tons of features. Both these apps have demos available so check em out.

Thanks for the reply but.........

Well i have tried those out kinda, but I really dont want use already programmed drum beats and smaples. I make my own music i dont use that click, copy and paste stuff. I want a program that i can record and edit with. Do those programs do above have a way to record and edit? Thanks

You can record audio with Acid, but I don't think you can with Fruity Loops, though you can record automation.

I don't see where you got the impression that you have to use pre-made beats in Fruity Loops (or Acid for that matter).

Anyway, it sounds like you might want a full blown multitrack app. In that case, I would recommend Vegas Video (don't be deterred by "Video"). It's only drawback is that it doesn't do MIDI sequencing. If you need to do MIDI sequencing (it sounds like you don't from your post), then you should look at Logic, Cubase, n-track, etc...
