What kind of amp would be the best for someone who is just starting out on a bass? How many watts? Thanks for the help

any will do really... i would say to just buy the cheapest one you can find... this way if you decide you hate bass, you wont be out a lot of money.
and i mean, for your purposes, you just want it to be able to perform its most basic duty: make the shit louder.
after youve been playing for a while is the time when you can decide how serious you are about it. then if you want, buy a new amp.
