What kind if guitar is this?

Bighand,

Thanks for the links. I did notice that on the guitar that was in the Guitar Tour section of the Ibanez Collectors site that there is a picture of the back of the headstock on the special model shown. On the back of the tuners for this guitar are STARS.

I don't know if this attribute is an Ibanez only thing, but it does narrow down the possibilities a little.

I notice that Treeline found one of the same pictures that I did when I recognized it as a Howard Roberts model. Hey Treeline thanks for the link. I didn't save it and was trying to get back to it to get the back shot of the guitar for Bighand.

Thanks for the quick responses.

The Ibanez "1970 Howard" looks like the ticket with the flame maple. There are holes where the pick up cover once was.
I have half a dozen other pictures if you need more info including the serial number.

Here's another shot of the body. There is an 8 digit serial number
starting with 1755 I think. I'll have to look tonight as the digital pictures didn't transfer here last night.

Where in the heck did you find those pictures?

Bighand,

Is the tail piece of your guitar made from a harmonica?
It looks like one was split in half to make it.

Perhaps this guitar had a few modifications since it came out of the factory.

You are right about the harmonicas. The guy must have spiced it up a little. Also I think the single coil on the bridge might not be original as these other similar guitars do not have them. It looks rather aged though.

I posted an inquiry on the collectors site.

The saddle piece is not attached, it floats on the guitar surface so you have to guess a little to get the intonation close. It has a felt bottom and I think he dressed it up too. I took the knobs off and maybe get some others if I sell it.
