What is "loop recording"

is it any different from track recording?

It is simply setting a "start" point and an "end" point for recording. When the end point is reached during recording, it automatically loops back to the start point and continues recording until you press stop.

This is especially helpful if you want to record numerous takes of a certain part, for instance, recording a guitar solo.
