i tracked this band 2 days over the weekend. It was my first time tracking a band by myself....these tracks are still really rough, just added a bit EQ to the guitar and doubled it, gated the kick and added verb to the vocals...again very rough mix and edit now but was curious to what you thought;

sorry for the huge file size, i need to compress it to mp3 soon.

Thanks for your thoughts. Again, my first band tracked....We had tons of problems starting out for some odd reason...

no file located at that url.......

[edit to add]the problem is that you left the "t" out of "dontrun"......click the edit tab at the lower right hand of your post and correct the url.

no problem......you really should convert it to mp3 though.....you wont get many listens with a 60 megabyte file.....plenty of free mp3 converters out there.....musicmatch jukebox even has a converter.

anyone actually listen to it or do i need to encode it to mp3 ??

post this in mp3 forum, not this forum.

but i'll answer it anyway. i got cable so i downloaded it.
i suggest:
converting to 256kbps mp3, and posting this in the mp3 clinic.

About the mix:
The panning is reallllyyyyy wierd. I think there are some phase issues in drums perhaps. Mostly though, a pet peave of mine is non-equal volumes between l/r ears or speakers. I'd keep drums panned center until you can get those kinks worked out.

a tip is to record your guitar part twice - and pan one of them left and one of them right (equal pans!)! ha. Not nessicarily all of the way left or right, but at least half way or something...just experiment.

lastly, kinda bassy mix.

thanks for the response.
again its a really rough track... i had a lotta problems with the drums, but in the studio eventually they sounded allright.

a problem with the mix being really bassy is i tracked and did the little mixing with a studio that had a subwoofer in that probably was cranked up low i guess.

ill post it over in the mp3 section after i work on it alot.
drums pretty much just used SM 57s, an AKG 414 on the Hi Hat, Rode nt2 as overhead...

guitar in that mix was doubled in pro tools, EQ'd abit...

aight i gotta get back to some work.. will post it over their in aweek or so after i have more time to work on it...

Thanks
Jon
