Hi Folks

Not sure that this the correct forum for this thread, but I couldn't see anything I thought suitable.

Just wondering what everyone is charging for in their studios. Not how much, but services that you put a charge on.

I have charges for hourly rate, day rate, per CD burnt (short runs only) & session archiving.

Are there any other things that you charge for? Any special package deals etc.? Details of package deals would be great.

Thanks
Mark

Yo Marked One:

My studio prices:

Girls under 129 pounds -- 66.-- per hour
Girls over 156 pounds -- 122.00 per hour

Males who have no voice: 222.00 per hour
Good singers of either sex: 33.99 per hour.

Well, only in fantasy; however, you should charge for your ability to make your client sound good. And, that can be a very good price.

I charge for session work, doing a music bed for song writers that don't play instruments.

Thanks GH

I've already got my hourly rate, I'm just wondering if there are any other services etc. (other than what I mentioned above) that I should be charging separately for. Am I missing out on anything by including them in the hourly rate?

Yo Mark:

I have this good friend, a piano man from Chicago who retired. He had his own studio and did many of the commercials you have heard over the years.

I had him over to cut something he needed to send to his "group" CHIZIL. He started out by moving so fast, back it up, let's take it again, until I said, "Hey, man....this is free -- no charge....what's your hurry?"

Well, he was so used to studios in Chicago where they DO NOT REWIND TAPE -- DO IT OVER, TAPE GOES FOWARD ALL OF THE TIME. MORE TAPED USED, MORE COST.

Consider your cost for your gear, your time envolved other than when recording a client, your mics, your cables, your overhead, and don't sell your talent short. You might get a sample by calling a couple of studios and asking for their rates?

Have fun because music is fun.
