Optimus Prime
What are some common Chords they use.
Also I am trying to learn Back in Black, and after the first 3 chords there is a little noodle thing before the chord progression starts over where you use the e,b and g strings but I can't get it to sound right is there a trick.

Any 1-4-5 progression

G-C-D

E-A-B

A-D-E

The riffs are the same changes but just a root -5 (aka power chord).

Angus uses all Pentatonic or Blues scales - really quite simple. The trick is in the phrasing - that's what makes him deadly.

Chuck Berry is all 5th-6th on the I-IV-V, (ie I I6 I etc), so learn to stretch out that pinky!

Yup - the most used riff in rock n roll. Learn that and you can play 5 million songs.

AC/DC songs are pretty much all G, A, C, D, and E in the open positions, and barre or power chords whenever something else is called for.

there is a little noodle thing

The deedly bit starts on the first 16th note after the 3rd beat: (three) e&a4e&a. It only took me about twelve years to realize that fill didn't start on the down beat. Also, the first note is bent a touch, like a quarter step.

me too haha. i think the trick to back in black is well placed and very obvious palm mutes

Like the guys said . Open chord stuff.

All I can add is, practice your minor pentatonics until you can play them in your sleep, and add the blues notes as well. :D

It's a pretty simple riff

|-----------3-0---------|
|---------------2^F2-0-|

I am playing it and it doesn't sound right. It sounds like way more notes than he is playing.

Way to reduce the output of a genius to one totally inadequate description...

The accents are as important as the notes.

Flare and style and timing make that simple little riff work. It needs to be put into context with the rest of the tune. Solo's only work when placed in the arrangement and played in such a way that it complements the big picture. Pick up an AC/DC anthalogoy or TAB book. You'll find that the construction of their tunes is pretty simple but Angus and gang really work every note to make the tunes sound busier and faster than they really are.
