So whats the verdict?

The Beri Truth's or the 8.2a Wharfe's? I need bass and clarity for my rap music.

Same price at zZsounds.

And the Wharfeshits tell nothing except wharf.
The Pooringer and the Wharfeshits are both bad choices. Save up more, don't buy crap, you'll be glad you did!

The Wharfe's have much better clarity and soundscape imaging than the Berry's. However, the low end tends to be loose and 'woolly,' lacking definition and punch. The mids and highs are sweet though. Probably the best mids in the price bracket.

Wow its funny how everyone praised the Wharfes in this thread and now people are saying the Wharfe's arent good.

I read this review about the Truths: http://www.digitalprosound.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=13566&afterinter=true

Maybe you guys should check it out.

I done a listening test at sound control when I bought the wharfes and remember having a good chuckle with the salesman about how hyped the Truths sounded and what an unfitting name they had.

Yea I've messed with the truths a little and they seemed more at home in a hifi minisystem than a mixing environment. The wharfes are much more true to the sound, but the low end from the woofers is lacking in definition. Still the best in the price range, IMO.

Best Mastering gear I've bought since my RME card. Nice monitors, the Wharedales.

Just ordered 8.2as from eBAY brand new. It was hard resisting the Truths, since I never heard the 8.2a's before. Im just going by faith and what you guys said about them. cant wait to upgrade over my little $50 Logetich 340s.

340s were a work horse, but took a damn long time to perfect mix downs.

cheers! :)

I finally GOT THEM!!! The 8.2a's.

They sound real nice. I only had them for about 3 hours.

Thanks HomeRecording Forums for ya excellent advice and help!

U guys rock!!!

:D ;)

Wait till they break in. This usually takes about 30-40 hours of playing. Just wait till you hear them then.

Does anyone have tips for where to buy these wharfedales in the Netherlands?

Buy another brand of monitors maybe ???!?

Yeah, that's always an option. But having more options is always nice. I had Tannoy reveal 5" passives.. sold them a while ago. I need powered monitors.

The gap between 250-300 Euros per pair and 250-300 Euros per single monitor is hurting me a bit.. I'd like to spend about 350-400 Euros on monitoring (active). Its dificult. I spend last night 3 hours reading this forum about all types of options. I believe you (The Dewd) have a clear idea about monitoring.

Any tips?

Well, out of curiosity, why do you need active monitoring? Passive monitoring is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe he doesn't want the hassle of worrying about an amp for the monitors.

Well, I don't see how an amp could be an hassle ?

The amp I used to use with the Tannoys was really bad, old age I guess.. Big 'PLOP's on turning on/off. Bad potentiometers for volume and stuff like that. And no amp requires less space, which is a big plus!

I've got both and didn't hear an overwhelming difference.

The actives do take less space.. theres a rack slot open.

The actives I have include some Eq and switches on the back, to complement your room.....but its strange, as most here tend to be Anti-Eq the moneitors for the room with outboard units, but don't mind eqing with the eq circuit inside the active monitors?

the only difference I see is one eq is inside a box and the other isn't...?
but thats another thread....EQ with Active monitors but not with Passive monitors?
