Hi, Has anyone used, or have any opinions on the new Wharfedale Diamond Pro active monitors? I'm interested in the 8.2's. Wharfedale's stereo speakers usually get good reviews, and a few not so good. Any thots greatly appreciated.......I need monitors yesterday. thanks, Kenton

If the active "Pro" 8.2's are HALF as good as the regular Diamond series, they're easily worth TWICE the price they're asking. YMMV.

Thanks Massivemaster...........could you elaborate alittle on why you think so, if you have the time? Thanks to you. kenton

I'm a Wharfedale dealer and I can tell you that are the best thing you can put your money on for under $1000.00. They're an undisocvered gem.

PS I sent you a PM with a very good price on a pair shipped.

I found out about the 8.2's from a mastering engineer in the U.K. - He called them his "secret weapons" - I found a set on ebay and quickly found out why.

Those things have one of the greatest images I've ever heard - In the nearfield, you'll hear things you've never heard before. In the midfield, they went head-to-head with my old B&W 602's (they can't touch my 802's, but what really can?).

And Deepwater is right - If I listened to them and they said "that'll be a thousand dollars" I probably would've coughed it up. Well, maybe not a thousand dollars, but damn close.

They're one of those products that I just can't figure out why they're not more popular in the U.S.A. Maybe now that they're going active, they will be.

They should double the price, though...

wharfedale 8.2 actives

Thanks guys for all your help. For some reason I feel like a schmuts,
I ordered a pair from another outlet (sorry deepwater). I'll direct anybody who asks to YOU for Wharfedales in the future. I was ordering a bunch of other stuff from AMS and I just decided to keep it all together. Ordered a TC MoneXL........it was a toss up between tc and the kurzweil Rumor. I tried and tried to get feedback on the Rumor, but to no avail....so I went with TC.
What do you guys think of the MoneXL? I like the 'verbs better than Lexicon.
Anyways, I 'll let you know how the Wharfedales work out.....if it's cool.
thanks again, kenton

Thats ok. I just try and help out when I can.

Wharfedale 8.2A

AMS Price $335.00

Price to my homerecording friends $275.00

Is that $275 for a pair of actives? If so, I may be contacting you in the future.

That's just sick - I wish I needed another pair...

that indeed is a steal... 275,- for actives... berries cost more

Does anyone know if these will work laid on their sides? I don't think I would have room for a pair vertical.

I'm set on wharfedale, although truth audio kinda is attractive too...

I can get behringer truths with an 8 inch woofer for about the same price. If i am not going to be running a subwoofer, would the wharfdales still be better?

For detail and true respone the Wharfedale's are better. The Behringer are hyped in the lows and highs to make them sound good to the ear. If your room is not real large (ie average size bedroom) the Wharfedale will do everything you need.

The deal is really attractive. Do you also ship internationally, deepwater? :D
