Welcome aboard, ye scurvy dog. Stow yer sea bag in yer rack, and report to the bo'sum asap. Oh, and ye be well-advised to give the bilge rats in The Cave a wide berth, lest they try to keel-haul ye. (Sorry, but it's still Talk Like a Pirate month.)
I was hoping I could provide some help, but at this point, all I can do is ask you to further define your needs and wants.
You say "building your studio," are you talking hammer-and-nails stuff, or gear?
What space will your studio be housed in? What is the setting- noisy industrial area, house you share with other people who might want to sleep while you are recording, cabin in the woods with no one to disturb you and no one for you to disturb?
What sorts of recording do you have in mind doing? One-man "producer" stuff, internet radio, 4-piece rock n roll band with acoustic drums, etc.?
Do you have a budget in mind? If not, take a stab at it. If so, please share the amount with us.
What recording and/or music experience do you already have? (a full-on ProTools setup is nice to have, but if you are a total noob, all the choices will overwhelm you.)
We are all (well, most of us) are here to help, but we need you to narrow the field down a little for us. After you do, you will get more replies, more applicable to your needs, and they will be of vastly higher quality, too.
