I've been recording on a stock soundcard for a little while now, and I just made my first move towards some better gear.
Today I ordered from AMS:

1 M-Audio Delta 1010
1 Presonus Blue Tube stereo tube mic pre
2 ecm8000 microphones
5 trs-cables ( lol )
1 Behringer Headphone amp

1004.56

I'm getting billed over 5 months

WHoo!

Can't wait till the 5 months is up so I can do it again!

Yo Ralph Belome:

Keep doing it. You are supporting the economy; I keep doing that from day to day.

Awesome, I just started using a Delta 1010 not too long ago and I love it. :D

I need to plan farther now..

Well, I've come to a fork in the purchasing road. Although I'm out of money for the time being, When I pay my first load of gear off I'm going to get another. :D

My next decision involves micing drums. I'm considering either an 8 channel analog mixer ( carvin 4 buss, or something similar ) or a set of 4 M-audio Audio buddies or some other cheap stereo pre. I don't know how much I want to spend for sure but the cheaper the better, I suppose....

I am reaching for suggestions, or maybe examples of what other people have tried, or currently use.

The only drums I KNOW that I'll be recording in the near future are modern rock drums ( Staind, System of a Down, Korn, etc...)

Am I on the right track or am I oblivous to some more simple, obvious solution. Or possible some third thing... heh

I hope i didn't leave anything too vague...

Don't know about anyone else but I've just started running a 6 mic setup for my drums through an 8 track mixer. This allows me to mix down the kit for live settings as well as separate my tracks when necessary. Works for me and it was inexpensive. I've never used mic pre-amps before so that's all I can tell you. :)
