Ordinarily I wouldn't be interested in the Waves Renaissance EQ or compressor. But I got an email saying they're on sale for $38 each. Anybody with experience want to tell me about them? Do they sound any different than your other comps and EQ's? In what way?

Just your general impressions. thanks.

Thanks Guitar God.

Since it seems Waves is best know for their dynamics processors, I would have guessed that Ren Compressor would have been the plug you would have singled out. But who knows.

I use Sonar, so I have the Sonalksis EQ by default. I have the Waves Q10 and Reaper standalone EQ plugs too.

I also have the Sonalksis Compressor obviously and the Reaper standalone compressor.

So I don't really know if the Ren stuff would really add anything valuable to that. I think I'll check if Waves offers trials.

The Ren Comp is a great compressor in my experience. It has an analog kind of vibe to it without being specifically modeled on a specific unit. Nice flexibility in that in can emulate Opto or Electro compression and so can give a variety of flavors.
Controls are very easy to use and the big bar in the center makes it easy to see how much compression you are getting (if that is something you worry about)
I think for 38 bucks its worth it but as always YMMV

i've used this plug on many a vocal and its really nice in moderation. i find it particulaly good on female vox

I've used both of those and they are fine.

I prefer the stillwell Vibe EQ or 1973 EQ, and Rocket comp. I think they are $25 a piece. I use the Vibe EQ all the time on all sorts of tracks, and the rocket comp is a super fast great vocal and rock guitar compressor. Those three would be my choice for $75.

I snatched these singles up. They're priced less than if you bought them all in the bundles. But my software budget is blown: Ren Bass, Ren Reverb, Doubler, Debreath (for $18 can you go wrong?), Enigma, and Doppler. I must watch expenses now. I'd just picked up Focusrite's Midnight bundle before Waves did this. Focusrite's bundle is pretty nice. I like the compressor the best.

$18? I thought they were $38? I might check them out for that price.

There are a number of them at different price points. $18 is about the cheapest one on the list. I just got another email like the one last week. The plugs I'd consider (EQ and Comp) are now $48.
