How do i reformat my wav files to mp3 ? Someone told me Windows media player can do it but i looked all over that program and dont see it.
Also i have down loaded free wav to mp3 software online and they dont work.

www.goldwave.com

Amazing program. Fully functional free, but I bought it because this program rocks so much that I felt the software people deserved my money.

I agree. Goldwave is a gem --- and I did the same!

Here's one that's freeware - CDex.

Second recommendation for WinLame. Works great and is free!

i use freeware called cdex

I use cdex and shit I thought I'd never thought I'd run across someone else who knew what it was. I love that shit, but I'm trying Blaze Media Pro too. I heard the samplerate when encoding can be set higher, so we'll see.

Try Exact Audio Copy. Can't remember what the URL is. You will also need to add an mp3 encoder to it on installation. I reccommend the LAME encoder. Just search for LAME.exe in google. Its a variable bitrate encoder, so it scans what you are compressing to look for peaks in bass and volume, eq etc, and encodes with a higher bitrate (i've seen it get up to 500ish kpbs), when it sees those high peaks, and a lower bitrate when it doesnt need so much bit rate. That way you get awesome quality without huge file sizes.

dBpowerAMP Music Converter™ converts almost any audio format to any other. I can't say enough good things about this utility and it's free! http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

One good thing about this one, is that you can run it directly from Windows Explorer. Just click on a WAV file and it provides an automatic interface for conversion. It can go both ways from WAV to MP3 and from MP3 to WAV.

Version 10 of this was free. Version 11 was not free.

There are also lots of other good tools, some free and some low cost.

I use the lame encoder. Just click "open with" and the program where you have the wav file then click "convert to" it does the rest.
