What an amazing community this is! I just wanted to extend some happy vibes to y'all! Being new to the internet and to digital recording, I'm astounded at the wealth of information being shared here, and personally am MUCH more technically informed than just a few days ago! So thanks to all! Now for the technical stuff: I've been recording 4-track analog for years and years, and have recently aquired a computer and CD-burner for the sole purpose of bringing it all together! - but alas, the built-in sound qualities of this machine are woefully inadequate as there is an extremely high 'G' note prominently burned into any recording I try to make, regardless of the level of noise reduction employed. I think this may be CPU noise, but who knows. Having researched this BBS, it's clear I'll need a dedicated pro sound card, and will probably go with Gadgetlabs. So my question is: 1. would such a card be immune to the horrid siren 'G' note interference? and 2. any possible recommendations for a nice simple quiet inexpensive mixer? Peace.

When I was using a turtle beach multisound pinnacle I also had a high pitched sound getting into the mix. It turned out to be the computer power supply, might be something to check out.
