I recently bought this mic for my studio hoping it would have a complimentary sound to mics i already had.

I havnt had alot of time to test it out yet. But i have noticed that it is a very dark microphone. It seems pretty warm in the lower frequencies but i havnt been able to test it out fully. It hasnt worked very well yet for rock vocals but im anxious to get someone in the studio to see how it works with acoustic guitar. So far i have decided that the mic is definately complimentary to what i have already.

Basically, its by far the darkest mic i have ever used and i hope i can find some cool things to use it on.

I know i dont have a whole lot to say yet but i wanted to see if people had interest on how this mic sounded, because i went ahead and took a shot in the dark without auditioning it. Doh.

If i cant find enough uses for it i think i might send it back and trade it in for something else.

I will also give a few thoughts later on the Royer 122 but i have been able to test that much yet either.

From what ive heard, the R-122 is the pretty much the same as the 121 except it is phantom powered and has more gain. You need to worry about having a preamp with 1000 ohms on it to use it. But from what i know they sound pretty similiar except maybe the 122 has a little more top end. So far i have liked it on my trombone and guitar. Its got a cool color on amps. Ive got a bunch of recordings coming in this next month so i should be able to let out some more info about it.
