Hello everybody i'm a newbie to home recording so forgive me if I ask stupid questions.

I'm currently recording on a Boss Br-532 ,but what i want to be able to do is after I have recorded a track, is be able to add effects and to adjust eq of the track, then of course mix all the tracks down.

So what i'm looking for is a stand alone digital unit with at least eight tracks that can accomplish this.

Can you do this with digital stand alone units?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks a ton

:D Yo SH:

If you go SIAB [studio in a box] or PC you can record and add Fx and adjust EQ and do dynamics or compression.

I use a SIAB [studio in a box] the Yamaha 2816. There are others: Korg, Roland, Akai, Boss, Fostex, etc.

You can get the Yam AW 16 which is a popular unit at this time.

With almost and DAW [digital audio workstation] you can turn on some FX to hear in the cans; however, it is not recorded. Kind of helps you get a feeling for the material you are recording and is an asset for vocals. You can use the same FX when you mix down or do several mixes using different Fx, delays, etc.

Choices and prices are pretty good at this time. So, you should research and try to get to audition some units at a vendor's store, even if you have to drive a few miles. While auditioning, you can listen to monitors and try some mics, etc.

Lots of fun for you ahead--jump in.
