I wanna buy a Ibanez RG2570, is this a good choise? I play metal and a lot of rock. Think of music like: Guns n' Roses, 36 Crazyfists, Hoobastank, Velvet Revolver... What are the good's and bad's on this board???
I love Ibanez. I curently own a JS100 and bought it after trying out the RG series guitar that you mentioned. The RG comes with the Dimarzios which are awesome pickups (I don't care what anyone tells you). The only reason that I ended up with JS is because the body shape was so unique. As a matter of fact the pick ups on the JS100 blew. I replaed the bridge with a Dimarzio tone zone and the neck with a Seymour Duncan vintage 59'. I personally think that Ibanez offers great value for the price. My main guitar is a Les studio but I needed something slighlty more versatile as a second guitar and I don't particularly like strats.
All I play anymore is Ibanez. The necks are smooth, skinny, and fast as hell. I've owned several Ibanez guitars over the years, and it's kind of a crap shoot on the pickups. When the S series first came out, the stock pickups that they had on the 540 LTD absolutely rocked my socks off, but I've played a few where the pickups are mediocre yet not crappy. I say go for it, but I'm one of those dumbasses who would pick an Ibanez over most guitars that cost 4 or 5 times as much.
I've got an Ibanez RG for sale. I'm not sure what model it is and it doesn't say. I could ask the guy I bought it from if you were serious. It's black with a dark neck in pefect condition. Rear humbucker is an Ibanez C4 and the middle and neck pups are single coil Ibanez C1's. It has a Floyd Rose and plays great.
I'm not much of a shredder and since I got my LP I just don't play it much. I'd rather sell it and buy a strat or tele. You can email me at texroadkill@yahoo.com or send me a private message through this site.
if you want to play metal and you like floyd rose bridges the rg is the best choice period. outside from any strange personal preferences you might have (issues with body shapes, looks, that kinda crap) the rg is the best guitar for what you described. i had an rg, loved it, still wish i didnt sell it but i dont really play a lot of metal, however i'd recommend it to the death.
i owned a couple ibanez usa customs a few years back. theyre nice to play and look at, but they are tempermental and need truss rod adjustments quite a bit. their edge2 trems are bitchy as well. the neck joint often pops when you dive bomb, stuff like that.
great stuff for the money, especially if you dont mind doing maintenance more often.
yeah every1 has their own different method of "owning" guitars
some dont like to fix and change them and shit
and others...like myuself......like the maintenance
