vst synth gone psychotic?

so i was running a midi through a vst synth [the a-1 actually] and no matter what setting i change it to, it always changes back to italobass. as in, if i switch it to anything else, chorusbells or whatever, it will switch to that sound for a moment, but upon repeating the piece, it switches back to the original italobass. it still -says- it's using whatever other sound, but it isn't. it won't even play the right setting when i do an audio mixdown--it always does the one italobass setting. i can't figure it out--it just won't play the right sound no matter what i do. it didn't always do this, but i never changed any midi settings that i know of. any help?

i had that very same problem. only it was in n-track. i loaded a vst synth, programmed some midi and changed to the vst module, but whenever i hit 'play' the presets changed back to 001. i tried changing the channel, but it didn't work. i then tried another synth, and the problem was gone. it does happen with more than one synth though.
