As far as real clients for real engineers like us, I have never known a client that sang out of tune that *knew* they sang out of tune. Such clients have no need or desire for pitch correction.
If someone knows they are singing flat and wants me to correct their vocals synthetically, then my original question probably should be rephrased, "If someone knows they they cant sing, what's the point of stepping in front of the microphone?"
I can't sing for shit myself, but at least I'm smart enough not to get on stage or step in front of a hot mic.
If you can't sing, stick to karaoke if you absolutely have to prove it to others.
