VF16 monitoring

Hi,

For those who now own the VF16, how well is monitoring implemented? Specifically, can one record dry and monitor with effects? Also, can the compressors and effects be used simultaneously? For example, record with compressor as an insert, but monitoring with reverb?

I'm seriously considering purchasing the VF16, but want to be sure I've got my bases covered. Fostex is sending me a copy of the manual, but from some comments I've seen, this may not be so helpful as I'd like.

You can absolutely record tracks dry and monitor with effects, both effects processors if you wish. Effect 1 is dedicated to reverbs alone and effect 2 has chorus, flange, delays, pitch shifting, reverb. No wild effects, just bread and butter type stuff....the delays are excellent. The channel compressor only works on tracks 13-14 and 15-16. I've always used an outboard compressor so I can't comment on the quality of the one that's built in. Yes, you can record with compression and monitor with reverb at the same time. You can exchange tracks or copy tracks to a new location so you free up tracks 13-14 and 15-16 for recording with compression again.
