I'm not going to dismiss the thing without trying it first, too. (I still want one..........just to have it) Who knows, maybe it's great, or maybe not so wonderful. It's gotta weigh a ton though.

Don't fall into the trap of letting personal preferences get in the way of what is right for each specific song. Hearing the same snare sound song after song is just as bad as too much cowbell
agreed. i keep 2 snares in my set up for just such a reason
