In the swamps of Jersey
OK, Hi all. This is my first post. Yeah yeah virgin and all that. I've been lurking this site for a week now and have gained some really good info. One thing I can't figure is what is the difference (other than the color) between the V67G and M. I was thinking of adding one for my drum overhead along with my AT3035. I use an AT 25 for the kick and a SM57 on the snare.
Thanks All

Color and price. That's it.

This is a bit unorthodox. Most would go with a stereo pair of the same mics, for reasons of matching timbre/response, pickup pattern, and output level. For these reasons, you could go with another AT3035, but I would recommend a stereo pair of small-diaphragm condensers, such as the $60 Marshall MXL-603, or the $35 Behringer ECM-8000. As you can see, a pair of either of these mics would be on the order of the purchase price of one V67 and would give you more flexibility in mic'ing drums and other instruments.

Good luck with your search for an overhead solution and welcome to the forum!

At $99@,the V67M would make a great pair of overheads. As far as I know, the M means Mogami cable.Another poster here, responding to the thread where Harvey took a V67 and a C1 apart, opened up his V67B and accidentally scratched the internal paint. He reported seeing green paint under the black.

I thought I read somewhere that both versions use Mogami cable.Could the M stand for Mars?

The V67M has Mogami written on it, the others don't. Apart from that and the colors, I pretty sure they're the same.

This has been covered a bunch of times here. According to MXL, there is no differance with between the V67m and the V67g, except for the color, and the mogami thing(rumor has it the g also has mogami so this may not be a differance either).

you really can't find the 603s for $60 anymore, it's pretty much $80 now except used (igot one for $75 shipped lightly used).
