Well, all these comments really make my day and I feel relieved too!
Buffalo Bob--thanks for the listen--and I dug your instrumental thing too!
Lt. Bob--I just worked on the drums until they sounded right to my rhythmically challenged brain! I did a fairly big shift on the snare, and I slight shift on the HH and toms, bringing those all earlier. Luckily, I had submixed the horns already and had automated the vocal, piano and rhythm guitar. It was just a question of getting the new drums and the bass, and lead guitar back to where I had them. After I had all that, I bounced it down to a stereo mix and ran that through the same overall EQ as the last mix and through a limiter. I had the old mix on a stereo track, so I could go back and forth comparing the old and new. Whats funny is the late snare didn't really bother me too much, but after i did the shifts it really sounded late in those comparisons between the old and new. Hey, did I ever tell you I love your playing?
Muzeman--Thanks! I agree. Also, extra thanks for sticking with this whole progression!
Guernica--Thanks again. I HAD to put in the work cause it was a collab and i owed to the others to finish it right. Had it been my track alone, I might have sluffed off. I learned a ton from doing this though--the kind of education I'd pay for!
jamal--

I think there are reasons why some of us are drummers and others aren't! Thanks for the extra listen--I'm starting to feel OK again!
mkg--aren't these guys great?! Hey, I'm glad you cranked it up! I think it sounds cool at high volume (I'm trying to blow out my car stereo speakers!). You know, this may be a crazy thing, but one of the things I do when checking the bass--besides listening to the track itself--is I look at the woofers in my monitors. If I see them traveling when the mix is cranked, it means theres too much bass. On pro mixes, they don't move. I think its why they roll off 40 and down when they master stuff--its kind of useless energy down there.
Track Rat--coming from you, I take that as a huge compliment and--let me say thanks for erichenryus and Lt. Bob too! Oh--and thanks for the pics of your studio. man--that patch bay looks like a daunting task! you did such a pro job on it--unbelieveable!
mcmd--hey, I appreciate you listening. Lucky you--you missed the long thread that this started with!
Kramer--Yeah! To bed!
yiordanaki--Thanks! the guitar was recorded with a SM57 and it was tube amp. I used a Tubescreamer as an effect for the dirt. i did the ol' 808 mod to it.
Ah! Now I feel like I passed my BAr exam or something. i sure appreciate you all for taking your valuable time to listen an listen again. Now, maybe i can quit writing and start listening to some music here in the clinic!
