'ello.

I have a Pioneer Spec 2 power amp, from the mid '70s, that I have been using at home for a few years at home to listen to music. I have recently started to think about using it to power my speakers at my studio.

I am not sure if this is a good idea, because this thing sounds so good. It just makes everything sound like "buttah". I mean from shitty pressings of old records to really brittle sounding electronic stuff.

It puts just a nice "gauzy" film on everything.

It is also like 1500w

Should I be thinking about getting just clean power for my speakers?

its also silver and looks really cool.

What are you currently using?

Alesis RA 100

I would stick with the Alesis. The less coloration you have with your monitoring envirnoment the better your mixes should translate. Now if you were using a SB card or something,, I would pull out the shiny 70s amp.

Tee Hee....

Well right now I am using an SB card, but will be upgrading to a MOTU 2408 MKII w/ in a month hopefully.

Yeah, I figured it wasnt a really hot idea, but again sometimes fashin is a lot more fun than function.

I have another Motu pci interface card if you need one. It's just been sitting there in one of my computers since my Motu module was stolen.

I currently also run a SB Audigy2 and a Motu2408 in one pf my computers.. Mostly used for Sonar xl.

Just the card? How much $$?

I would have to find a MOTU 2408mkII expansion thingy right?
