Using Studer A827 without console ?

is there any way to record, monitor (without latency) and mix without console to studer ?

I'm not sure I understand. By 'console', are you referring to the machine's control panel, the remote unit, or a mixing desk?
If your question is "Can I mix something without a mixing desk", the answer is basically "no"...

Yes i was referring to mixing desk
well forget mixing part then, can i at last lay down song to those 24 tracks and then do mixing part digitally in pro tools? digital link between Studer and pro tools would be apogee 800 which is 8 channel high-end ad/da convertor.

If it's the latter, and the plan is to import them in three groups of 8, you might have a few problems lining them up afterwards, since the machine will not run at exactly the same speed each pass.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just get a Tascam 38 or something, if you're basically using it as an 8-channel effects box, rather than what it was designed to do? Or mixing digitally and bouncing the stereo mix to 2-track tape?

If you want to bounce a 24-track digital project to tape and back again, you'll need 24 digital channels to do it properly.

Have you considered the running costs and maintenance? A 24-track machine is likely to be a pig to align :-S

and this seems to be one big mess, adding more ad/da convetors will cost more then i can afford, i think it would be better to get some good cheap mixer, right ?
but what im afraid is if i run signal thru some cheap mixer that source will be degraded, and i dont have money for SSL console or neve.

With the list of gear you already have, if I were you, I would look around and try to find either a API or maybe a Quad 8 console. Or if that won't work maybe a Neve V.

Frankly, I'd say that if you can't afford more AD/DA channels, you're not going to be able to keep the machine running :-S
You may be getting it for less, but at the end of the day it's a £30'000 tape machine, and it's going to cost a shedload of money to run. There's a reason I haven't upgraded to a wide-track tape format...
