yet another thread form an "english noob"

guys, can you tell me the best way to route outboard effects/processors to a soundcard if there are no inserts on the interface.

and if i was using a software mixer with an ADAT sound card. how would i go about adding outboard effects to the recorded data at mixdown?

hello........ guys? :(

can nobody help me or is it such a STOOOOOPID question?

is it unclear what i'm asking? talk to me boys and gals

Send it out and bring it back. May degrade the sound unless you have some high quality converters.

cheers for that chris,

could you go firther into describing a good way to chain it all together please.

ie, mic > interface (with pre amps) > ADAT soundcard > ???

be very appreciated

What I do is send the track I want to effect out of the converter, then back into a converter. Then I play the track and adjust the effect with the mix until I get what I want. Then I print it to a seperate track.

I have no idea if that's the right way to do it, though. Haha.

Oh, and this is all after tracking. Track dry, that way you don't do something stupid during tracking and have to live with it.

So: Mic>preamp>converter>computer

Then: converter>effects>converter back in
