Using External Preamps with a Firepod

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on here has used external preamps with their firepod, and if so, how did you go about hooking it up?

I want to buy a better preamp (especially to use for vocals). I'm assuming that I would run my vocal mic into the preamp and then connect the preamp using a 1/4" output on the pre to one of the inputs on the front of the Firepod. I know that only inputs 3-8 on the Firepod are line level as 1 and 2's 1/4" inputs are instrument level, so I'm assuming I'd want to use 3-8. Would going into inputs 3-8 on the Firepd via 1/4" cable bypass the Firepod's preamps and allow me to do this?

Yes, that will work. I use those channels on my firepod to reamp line level signals from the outputs

There are line inputs for 1-2 on the back
