I have an older version of cakewalk, but haven't been able to find the plug ins so that I could use them with N-track. Anyone have any idea where I should look? They are .dll files, aren't they?

Man, I'm starting to feel like the most frequent visitor here!

Not if they are DirectX effects. Those get installed directly into the operating system and you just can't "copy" them from anywhere.

But if you go ahead and install a program that installs DirectX effects, they will be useable by any audio program that takes advantage of them, including N.

VST effects are ususally in a VST folder and can >usually< be copied into N's VST folder. A better way is to have one central VST folder on your system, put all VST dlls into it and then use the Preferences of the program to tell it where to find the VST effects. I do this with N, FruityLoops, Cubasis and other VST-capable sequencers.

Now if they are hard-coded into Cakewalk, then no... nothing else can share them.
