Used cymbals off ebay?

It seems like a good way to get a better quality cymbal at a cheaper price.
I mean my set was only $250.used (pearl forum).

I really don't know all the different options, and I live in the middle of nowhere so being able to test out different heads and cymbals is nill. and the 2 local music stores won't even let you play the drums, or turn up the amps for that matter. :rolleyes:

What would you suggest for cymbals and heads? I like the who's and Chilli peppers cymbal sounds and bonham's drum sounds.

Remember to factor in shipping...them plates can get pretty heavy!
 
Well I have bought many cymbals from ebay users, most are just as described only one had a keyholing issue that was not revealed, but the cymbal is still good.

I would just check their feed back ,man, if they sell junk and rip people off it will be reflected in their feed back for sure.

I like Bonham's drums too, When I'm trying for that big drum sound I use Clear pinstripes on top and evans glass on bottom for toms then Ambassador on the batter side of my snare and evans glass on the snare side. For my bass drum i would try a PS3 from remo and that is not (playstation3) for the batter side use something single ply on the front I have an attack single ply medium weight on the front of that bass drum for that kit, It's just what I had probably better selection out there, I don't really like attack heads too much
 
I've bought used vintage cymbals from ebay & havn't been dissapointed

a 20" paiste 2002 black logo dated 1979, a set of late 50s early 60s zildjian hats & a late 50s early 60s 18" zildjian crash ride & a 70s I think 24" zildjian ride cymbal
 
Oh, and pawn shops. You never know what treasures you'll find. :cool:
 
If you look on the Sabian website, there is a thing that lets you hear what the cymbals soundlike. I have bought many cymbals off of ebay, not one problem.
 
Check Craig's list too. I see pretty decent deals in my area now and then.

It might be worth while to make a list of which cymbal lines from each company are worth getting and which should be avoided at all costs.

Maybe a few members can give their thoughts on this and you can gain some pre-purchasing insight from it.

I have some cymbals I'm trying to sell. They are Istanbul Agop's

22" Sutlan Jazz Ride
22" Turk Ride - Great for rock!
22" Sultan Flat Ride - Great flat ride. A flexible ride.
6" Turk Bell
6" Turk Splash
14" Turk hi-hats. These are not too heavy. Makes them smooth. But they get loud when leaned on.

These are handmade cymbals and all, but the hi-hats have barely been used.

I was thinking $200 + shipping for each the 22" rides.
$200 for the hi-hats since they have been used, although treated like a baby. All were purchased last year around spring time. Most have been in a case for over a year and barely touched.

No keyholes, I can get pics for you and have mp3s of them made by the dealer. I purchased them from cymbalsonly.

Reason for sale: I love the larger ride cymbals, but I can't get them onto my kit due to lack of space.
