USB Mixng Board/Monitor Connection Issue...PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi All,

I have a Yamaha MW10C USB interface and just purchased a new set of Yamaha HS-50M monitors.

in the past, when recording vocals I used to plug my headphones into my old monitors and would get the whole sound thru the headphones. Now, with the new monitors, I only hear anything I've already recorded thru the headphones but the vocals that I'm trying to record can only be heard thru the monitors.

I have my monitors hooked into the "stereo out" of the usb interface and I have the headphones plugged into the "phones" jack. Not sure if it makes any difference but I am using Sonar X1.

Any help is hugely appreciated...Is there a setting or a button I am missing?

I am not very familiar with the interface but looking at the image at Sweetwater, it appears that there are monitor plugs right next to Stereo out (and right above headphones). I suspect that if you plug phones into the phones jack, it mutes the monitor output.

So by moving your monitors to those jacks you will get your playback tracks (what you've already recorded) in your monitors (and mute them if you plug in your head phones).

I think to hear what you are trying to record, you may have to turn on input (monitoring) in sonar. I don't use sonar, but in guitar tracks, that's what i have to do to hear what I am recording.
