This is the first I've heard of a new upgrade. I will have to look into it. Of course it will be the better part of 6 months before I get to upgrade mine, so I'll probably forget how to do it by then...... :(

I checked the Fostex site, and there is a version 1.21 update, but there is no documentation about it. I don't know what it does...

MR-8 Software Update to V1.20

The info on the update is all at Fostex. Clipped from the update info pdf:
"mr8_v120_note.pdf
Notes on MR-8 Software Update to V1.20 or later
Updating the MR-8 software to V1.20 has drastically improved the CF card WRITE/READ
performance, which enables to use CF cards which were previously considered to be inappropriate on
MR-8. Due to the difference of internal configuration in the created WAV files between the software
V1.11 or before and V1.20 or later, as shown in the illustration below, MR-8 offers only the upward
compatibility. We encourage you to update the MR-8 software to maintain the compatibility as well as to
obtain a widely given choice of CF cards.
Created WAV files using the software V1.20 or after are not
recognized on MR-8 with V1.11 or before software at all.
The LCD bargraph meter does not indicate a signal level on
all tracks 1 - 8 as if no material was previously recorded."

That's on the v1.20 update that I already have.

This is v1.21, which I am assuming is not the same. v1.20 is still there, so this is a new one...

update 1.21 for the MR-8HD

My mistake- the 1.20 is for the MR-8 the 1.21 is for the MR-8HD
says something about USB host...??? I got the older one - just the CF card

I thought I saw a v1.21 for the MR-8 too... I will have to go back and look. The MR-8HD doesn't have a flash card. It has a 40GB harddrive. I wonder if there isn't something I missed?

I think the update's USB Host feature allows for an external cd burner to be hooked up, recognized, and burned to from the MR-8. I think.

wurd,
esteef
