UK Looking for Quantagy 457 or equivelent for R8 UK

Hello there, I'm finding it difficult tracking down some tape for my R8, I have only one reel and it's badly worn. I'm from the UK and even ebay doesn't seem to ever have any on sale. Do know of any sources?

5" or 8" Ampex 457, Scotch 227

I've been told not to use tape 456 tape because it's way too thick and the manual states that no tape thinner than 1 mil should be used (I guess thats a millionth of an inch rather than 1 millimeter )

Don't buy old tape from EBay some has sticky shed which will wreck your machine.

Check the RMGI product link above, most of the above are for 10 1/2" compatible R2R's

You can wind the 5" reels on to the 7" take up reel(s)s or use the 5" reel but don't forget to change the settings for reel sizes on the machine. Details in the manual.
