I don't recommend using your closet to record vocals.
In fact, perhaps the most ideal place to track vocals would be right in the clothes hamper.
Don't laugh, but smelly underwear makes for a great broadband absorber. As funny as this probably sounds, the "skid marks" actually make the underwear a pretty flat absorber all the way down to 50 hz.

Don't forget you'll need some effective bass trapping.
Otherwise all the mid and high frequencies will be absorbed, leaving the lower frequencies bouncing around, making your recording too bass-heavy. You might like to look into building a cheap bass trap. I'm sure you can Google some instructions.
