Turn on proceedure for phantom power switch on my mixer

Greetings and salutations,

As my first post here, I thought I'd ask which power up proceedure is the best on my Behringer 1604MX. Sorry if this has been asked before, I looked around the site but didn't see anything related. I have read that it's not smart to "hot-plug" a mic into the mixer with phantom power on, but was wondering if I should have the phantom power off when I turn the main power switch on, then turn the phantom power switch on after a few seconds? ( I am assuming doing this should not hurt the mic's, a Rode NT1 and ADK A51.. ) Or should I just leave the P switch on all the time, since I'm presently using only the 2 mic's mentioned above?

turn the phantom power on after the mic has been plugged in. if you can mute the channel that the mic is being plugged into, thats even better. that way you wont get a pop when you plug it in. if phantom power is already on when you get ready to plug in the mic then mute it or turn the gain down so atleady it doesnt pop too bad. of course thats bad anyway but not that bad on the ears.

I pretty much always have the mic's plugged in, and I always have the faders and the channel gain pots next to the XLR's turned all the way down when I switch main power on. Is it a better habit to have the mic's unplugged upon main power up, or does it matter?

well. i had my monitors on and my mic plugged in one day and then i turned on my mixer(with the phantom power comming on at the same time) and i heard a loud pop and then feedback. the fader was turned up and the gain was also. when i tried it turning on the mixer without the phantom power then there was still a pop but it wasnt as loud and that was with the faders turned down. the next time i turned the monitors off and turned on the mixer first without phantom power or the mic plugged in and i didnt hear a pop. so i guess: turn mixer on, plug in mic, turn phantom power on, turn monitors on, adjust knobs to preference
